Following an overnight missile and drone attack, some customers in seven regions were left without electricity.

On the night of 14 March, Russian forces launched a massive missile and drone attack on the energy infrastructure of Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Damage has also been reported at energy facilities in other regions of the country.

According to the National Energy Company “Ukrenergo” (NEC “Ukrenergo”), as of this morning, some consumers remained without power in Kyiv, and in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Emergency repair work has already begun at the damaged sites. Energy workers are operating where the security situation permits, in order to restore equipment damaged by the shelling as quickly as possible.

Due to the consequences of the attack, the timing and scope of electricity consumption restriction measures have been adjusted. In some regions, from 08:00, power restriction schedules have been introduced for industrial enterprises, as well as hourly power cuts for all categories of consumers. These restrictions are expected to remain in place until the end of the current day.

Consumers are advised to check the official websites of the electricity distribution system operators (oblenergos) in their region for the latest schedules of possible power cuts in specific localities.

Ukrenergo is also urging the rational use of electricity, taking weather conditions into account. It is recommended that high-power electrical appliances be used during the daytime — from 11:00 to 16:00 — when solar power stations operate most efficiently.

At the same time, in regions where rolling blackouts are in effect, consumers are asked to use electricity sparingly and not to switch on several energy-intensive appliances simultaneously once the power supply is restored.

In addition, energy suppliers remind the public of the need to limit the use of high-power appliances during the evening peak load period — from 17:00 to 22:00, when electricity consumption is traditionally at its highest.
