Ministry of Defence purchases armoured blankets for Armed Forces for the first time
The State Logistics Operator of the Ministry of Defence has announced its first purchase of armoured blankets for the military.
These are universal field tents that can be used as individual or collective protection. The design of the product allows it to stop shrapnel from artillery shells, mines, grenades, and other explosive elements, dispersing their energy during combat operations and training.
The armoured blankets are designed for use in open areas, for covering dugouts and positions, in unarmoured transport, and during the evacuation of the wounded. The first batch will consist of 5,300 units worth over 132 million hryvnias. Shipment is expected by the end of February 2026.
Each set will include a cover, a soft ballistic bag, a carrying bag, a product passport, and a minor repair kit. All armour blankets will be made in MM 14 camouflage and marked with a QR code with instructions for use.
The products retain their protective properties at humidity levels of 40 to 70 per cent and in conditions of large temperature fluctuations — from minus forty to plus seventy degrees for at least six hours. The Ministry emphasises that such equipment will enhance the safety of military personnel on the front line and complement existing equipment during combat missions.
