Ukrainian strongman and Member of Parliament Vasyl Virastyuk has attracted attention on social media after users shared his BlaBlaCar profile. Passengers are posting photos from their journeys, sharing reviews and noting that the MP has a perfect rating on the platform.

Social media is abuzz with discussions about Vasyl Virastyuk’s profile on the BlaBlaCar carpooling service.

According to published screenshots, he is registered on the service as a driver, has over a hundred reviews from passengers and a rating of 5 out of 5.

One user said she travelled with Virastyuk on the Lviv–Rivne route. According to her, the journey was comfortable, and the driver was attentive and polite.

“Book him, he’s a good driver. I travelled with him from Lviv to Rivne,” wrote the passenger, posting a photo of herself with the athlete.

What passengers are saying

After the post, comments appeared from other users who also mentioned their journeys with Virastyuk.

One of the passengers said that after the journey he left her a positive review as a good passenger.

According to her, during the journey, Virastyuk complained that people often ask him for photos in the car, at petrol stations and in shops, even though he “just wants to be ordinary”.

In the comments, users joked about Virastyuk’s physical strength, fuel prices and an unexpected encounter with a famous sportsman on the ride-hailing service.

At the same time, many passengers noted his punctuality, safe driving and pleasant conversation on the road.

Who is Vasyl Virastyuk

Vasyl Virastyuk is a Ukrainian strongman, a Merited Master of Sport of Ukraine and one of the country’s most famous strength athletes.

He has won the title of “Strongest Man in Ukraine” six times – in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2007.

In 2004, Virastyuk won an international tournament and was awarded the title of “World’s Strongest Man”.

In June 2021, he became a Member of the Ukrainian Parliament for the “Servant of the People” party. His election followed lengthy legal disputes over the results of the by-elections to the Verkhovna Rada in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Why the story went viral

The story quickly spread across social media due to the unexpected contrast: a famous athlete and Member of Parliament turned out to be a driver for a ride-sharing service.

Users saw this more as a human interest story than a political scandal. In reviews, Virastyuk is described as a calm, polite and “ordinary” driver who ferries passengers between cities.
