Navrotsky calls Zelensky's visit to Warsaw bad news for Russia
Polish President Karol Nawrocki said that the arrival of Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Warsaw is a positive event for Poland and Ukraine and at the same time a negative one for Russia. He said this during a joint press conference with the Ukrainian leader on Friday.
According to Navrotsky, Zelenskyy's visit took place at his personal invitation and was a confirmation of the strategic unity of Poland and Ukraine in security issues. The Polish president stressed that cooperation between the two countries is of key importance not only for Warsaw and Kyiv, but also for the entire region of Central and Eastern Europe.
Karol Navrotsky also noted that he shares with Volodymyr Zelenskyy a common vision of Russia as a neo-imperial state that poses a threat to European security.
This is the first official meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and Poland since Navrotsky took office on 6 August 2025. Zelenskyy's visit comes amid active diplomatic contacts between Kyiv and its partners in Europe and discussions of further military and financial support for Ukraine.
As part of his visit on 19 December, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is also meeting with the speakers of the Polish Sejm and Senate, as well as with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. A wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw is also planned. The Ukrainian president was greeted with the performance of the national anthem of Ukraine.
