Navrotskyi on Ukraine and Tusk: partnership instead of a junior ally
Polish President Karol Nawrocki said that Warsaw will continue to support Ukraine, as it is in Poland's strategic interests and the security of the region. At the same time, he stressed that Poland does not want to remain a junior partner in relations with Kyiv and expects a true partnership. According to Nawrocki, during the almost four years of war, Poles often did not feel an equal dialogue, particularly on sensitive historical issues and economic interests. He expressed hope that Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Warsaw on 19 December would be a chance to discuss the problems that have not yet been resolved. It is reported by The Public with reference to Wiadomostci.
The Polish president also spoke harshly about Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Nawrocki said that Tusk has lost his position in the international arena and ceased to be an influential player. He called him the worst prime minister since 1989 and criticised the government for its lack of real achievements in foreign and domestic policy.
Donald Tusk reacted to these statements. The prime minister stressed that international politics is now being fought for the highest stakes, namely Poland's security and Ukraine's independence. According to him, if the president is unwilling or unable to help, he should at least not interfere in the work of the government. Tusk also reminded that Poland continues active diplomatic work together with its European partners and Ukraine.
