The NBU will issue modified 100 hryvnia notes in 2026
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement made by Oleg Prokhoda, Director of the NBU's Cash Circulation Department, during a telethon.
According to the official, back in August 2024, the NBU began issuing modified banknotes with an updated design. They feature the slogan "Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!"
Banknotes with denominations of 50, 500 and 1,000 hryvnia have already been put into circulation. In 2025, modified 20 hryvnia banknotes appeared, and on 25 February 2026, 200 hryvnia banknotes with the same addition.
Prokhoda noted that other elements of the design and security features of the banknotes have not changed, and the descriptions and images remain unchanged.
"We will soon complete this process and release the modified 100 hryvnia banknote into circulation this year. We will provide additional information about this," he said.
According to him, the NBU is also studying and implementing international experience in banknote design and security. Some decisions have already been applied in new issues.
In addition, the modified 20 and 50 hryvnia banknotes have been laminated, which will allow them to remain in circulation for longer.
Earlier, the NBU announced the launch of the updated 200 hryvnia banknote on 25 February as part of a planned issue. Also, from 8 August 2024, 500 and 1,000 hryvnia notes will be introduced, from 23 August 2024 — 50 hryvnia notes, and from 21 August 2025 — 20 hryvnia notes in a modified form.
Paper banknotes with denominations of 1, 2, 5, and 10 hryvnia from 2003–2007 are gradually being withdrawn from circulation and replaced with coins. Starting 1 October 2025, coins with a denomination of 10 kopecks will be gradually withdrawn.
