New car sales in Ukraine fell by 18% in May
This was reported by "Ukravtoprom".
Toyota was the most popular car brand of the month. At the same time, sales of the Japanese brand fell by 29% year-on-year to 745 cars.
Second place went to Skoda, which sold 516 new cars and was the only brand among the market leaders to show significant growth – up 9%.
The top ten most popular brands in May also included:
- Skoda – 516 cars (+9%);
- Renault – 485 cars (-19%);
- Volkswagen – 380 cars (-38%);
- BMW – 320 cars (-1%);
- BYD – 312 cars (-18%);
- Hyundai – 301 cars (-13%);
- Mazda – 283 cars (-5%);
- Nissan – 238 cars (+18%);
- Audi – 181 cars (-28%).
At the same time, most brands saw a decline in sales compared to May last year. The sharpest drop was recorded by Volkswagen – down 38%.
The most popular model on the Ukrainian market in May was the Renault Duster compact crossover, which remains in high demand among buyers thanks to its combination of practicality and affordability.
Overall, the statistics indicate a cooling of demand for new cars in Ukraine following a more active start to the year. This may be linked both to the general economic situation and to consumers’ caution regarding major purchases.
As a reminder, Tesla has recently regained its leadership position in the global electric vehicle market.
