“The Mindich Tapes”: ATB co-owner Butkevych denies any connection to the bail for Chernyshov
This is indicated by a link to Hennadiy Butkevych’s official statement on the BGV Group website.
ATB co-owner Hennadiy Butkevych has responded to the mention of his name in the latest transcripts of Timur Mindich’s conversations.
Butkevych denied any connection with businessman Timur Mindich and stated that he had no involvement in posting bail for former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov.
The day before, Ukrainska Pravda published new transcripts of conversations involving Timur Mindich, who features in the NABU “Midas” case.
In these conversations, Mindich and former presidential adviser Serhiy Shefir discuss where to get the money for Oleksiy Chernyshov’s bail.
Chernyshov is suspected of abuse of office and accepting bribes.
In June 2025, the High Anti-Corruption Court set his bail at 120 million hryvnias.
In the conversation, Shefir says he will be meeting with Butkevych.
In the publication, this is presented as a hint that the co-owner of ATB could be one of the potential donors for the bail.
Butkevych categorically denied this version of events.
He stated that no one had approached him with a request to pay bail for Chernyshov.
The businessman also claims that he has not transferred any funds.
“I categorically and unequivocally state: no one has personally approached me with any requests or enquiries regarding the payment of bail for Oleksiy Chernyshov. I have not paid any part of the bail — neither officially nor in any other way,” emphasised the co-owner of ATB.
Butkevych added that any claims, assumptions or interpretations regarding his financial or other involvement in this process are untrue.
Background
On 14 November, the NABU and the SAPO served former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity Oleksiy Chernyshov with a motion to impose a preventive measure in the form of detention.
On 19 November, the High Anti-Corruption Court ordered Chernyshov to be remanded in custody until 16 January 2026.
The court also set bail at 51 million hryvnias.
Chernyshov is accused of illicit enrichment in the case of embezzlement at Energoatom.
According to investigators, the transfer of over $1.2 million and nearly €100,000 in cash to him and his trusted associate was documented.
If found guilty, he faces between 5 and 10 years’ imprisonment and a ban on holding office for up to three years.
Chernyshov himself denies any involvement in the alleged embezzlement at Energoatom.
He also stated that he “does not recognise himself” in the so-called “Mindich tapes” under the pseudonym “Che Guevara”.
At the same time, Chernyshov admitted that the voice sounds like his.
As reported by ThePublic, new suspects may emerge in the “Midas” case, and the NABU investigation is expected to be completed by the end of the summer. Meanwhile, the documents for the extradition of Timur Mindich, whom the investigation considers one of the key figures, have been awaiting the Prosecutor General’s signature for two weeks.
