Polish initiative raises nearly €2 million for generators for Kyiv
In Poland, as part of the nationwide charity campaign "Warmth from Poland for Kyiv," over 8.2 million zlotys had been raised as of 27 January, equivalent to almost 2 million euros. The funds will be used to purchase generators for the Ukrainian capital.
The collection is taking place on the Pomagam.pl platform on the initiative of the Stand with Ukraine foundation. More than 63,000 people have already supported the campaign. During the 12 days of the campaign, the maximum amount collected has been increased several times and now stands at 10 million zlotys.
The day before, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga met in Kyiv with volunteers from the initiative who delivered the first batch of generators. According to him, the solidarity of Polish society plays an important role in strengthening Ukraine's resilience and is part of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
"It is the ability to act quickly, take responsibility and get things done that is saving lives and supporting cities today," Sybiga wrote on his Facebook page.
Natalia Panchenko, leader of the Stand with Ukraine foundation, reported that a total of 230 generators have already been delivered to Kyiv. Of these, 130 large units were handed over directly to the city authorities, and another 100 smaller ones to Polish volunteers working in Ukraine who deliver equipment to the regions most in need.
