Over 195,000 criminal proceedings: data on crimes committed by the Russian army

The National Police recorded hundreds of thousands of crimes, including those against children, committed during the full-scale invasion.

Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, more than 195,000 criminal proceedings have been initiated in Ukraine for crimes committed by Russian military personnel and their accomplices. These figures were released by the National Police of Ukraine on 31 January 2026.

In total, law enforcement agencies have opened 195,373 criminal proceedings for crimes committed on the territory of Ukraine. Of these, 178,389 cases relate to war crimes. Another 9,385 proceedings were opened for encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, 4,659 for collaboration, and 429 for high treason.

Crimes against children are recorded separately. According to available data, 679 children have been killed and another 2,347 wounded as a result of Russian aggression. 2,283 children are considered missing. Law enforcement agencies have managed to locate 50,124 children. The deportation of 20,000 children to the Russian Federation has also been recorded, of whom 1,976 have already been returned to Ukraine. These figures do not include areas of active hostilities and temporarily occupied territories.

In addition, 146 criminal proceedings have been initiated on the facts of sexual violence committed by Russian military personnel.
