Kremlin spokesman Dmitriev heads to US for talks with Trump's entourage
Russian presidential adviser and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev is heading to the United States to meet with representatives of the American side. Reuters reports this with reference to an informed source.
According to the source, Dmitriev is planning talks with US Presidential Special Representative Steve Vitkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner in the US. The meetings are expected to take place in the coming days.
Dmitriev is considered one of the Kremlin's key informal negotiators in its contacts with Western partners. He has been involved in international negotiations on a number of occasions, particularly in the financial and investment sectors.
Reuters notes that these contacts come amid intensified diplomatic efforts around the war in Ukraine and the search for possible scenarios to end it. At the same time, there are no official comments on the agenda of the upcoming meetings from either the US or Russian sides.
The publication also notes that the format of the talks is not official and does not mean a change in the US position on sanctions or support for Ukraine.
