On the night of 5 February, Russian drones attacked Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Fires, damage to residential and office buildings, cars and injuries among the civilian population were reported.

On the night of Thursday, 5 February, Russian troops carried out a massive attack with strike drones on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. As a result of the strikes, destruction was reported in several areas of the capital, fires broke out, and civilians were injured. This was reported by the State Emergency Service, the Kyiv City Military Administration, and the National Police of Ukraine.

In Kyiv, fires broke out in the Shevchenkivskyi and Obolonskyi districts as a result of the strikes and falling debris from the drones. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a drone hit the roof of a four-storey office building, causing a fire covering an area of about 30 square metres. The fire was extinguished by rescuers. In the Obolonskyi district, debris from a drone fell on a car park, causing two cars to catch fire.

In the Solomyanskyi district, the blast wave damaged windows in four multi-storey residential buildings, and damage to a preschool and a farm building was also reported. Initially, one person was reported injured, but later the police clarified that two women had been injured. A 79-year-old Kyiv resident was hospitalised, and an 89-year-old woman was given medical assistance on the spot.

The consequences of the attack were also recorded in the Darnytskyi district of the capital, where the facade of a residential building was damaged by a falling drone. No information about fires or casualties was received there.

In the Kyiv region, a man in the Vyshhorod district was injured during the drone attack. According to the head of the regional military administration, he was hospitalised at a local hospital with a lacerated chest wound, and doctors are providing the necessary assistance. In addition, a private residential building was damaged.

Rescue workers, investigative teams, bomb disposal experts and emergency services worked at the sites of the strikes. The police are documenting the consequences of yet another war crime committed by the Russian Federation. An air raid alert was declared in the capital and a number of regions during the attack due to the threat of strike drones. Data on the number of victims and the extent of the damage may be updated.
