Zelenskyy and Trump's meeting begins
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived at the Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, where he is holding talks with US President Donald Trump on ending Russia's war against Ukraine.
Ahead of the meeting, Trump said he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin is serious about achieving peace. According to him, both the Ukrainian and Russian sides are interested in reaching a deal. He emphasised that the negotiations are in the final stages, while no specific deadline has been set.
The US President said that after speaking with Zelensky, he plans to have another phone conversation with Putin. According to Trump, the possibility of a personal meeting with the Russian leader will depend on further developments.
According to the US president, the future agreement may include strong security guarantees for Ukraine, as well as economic benefits aimed at post-war recovery. Trump also announced his intention to hold consultations with European leaders.
Commenting on the latest missile and drone attacks, Trump noted that the fighting is on both sides, stressing that the strikes on Russian territory, in his opinion, were carried out from the Ukrainian direction. He added that both Ukrainian and Russian societies are interested in ending the war.
