Blackmail with intimate videos: Olena Topolia reported the crime, police detained the suspect
Ukrainian singer Olena Topolia said she was blackmailed over intimate videos that criminals threatened to publish on the internet. According to her, they demanded $75,000 from her not to distribute the materials. Law enforcement officers have already detained a suspect involved in the crime.
The artist, also known by her stage name Alyosha, said on Instagram that the threats began on 10 January. The unknown individuals demanded money, threatening to distribute private videos.
"I received threats of blackmail over intimate videos, demands for money, and attempts at manipulation," the singer wrote.
Topolya published screenshots of the alleged correspondence, which show that she was threatened with the video being sent to more than 100 email addresses. According to her, the recipients include the names of well-known journalists and public figures, including Masha Yefrosinina, Marichka Padalka, Ramina and others.
The singer said that she immediately filed a report with the police and stressed that she had no intention of keeping quiet about the situation or feeling ashamed.
"My body, my intimacy, is not your prey, not a commodity, and not a reason for humiliation or enrichment. It belongs only to me," Topolia said.
She also appealed to journalists, the media and bloggers not to disseminate any leaked materials.
