The SBU has announced that it has foiled an attempt by the Russian Federation to register Starlink in the Zhytomyr region
This was reported by the SBU press office.
According to the SBU, Russian intelligence services attempted to use a resident of the Zhytomyr region to verify Starlink satellite terminals in Ukraine.
The security service noted that attempts were made to recruit the woman via Telegram. According to the SBU, she was offered the chance to register a Starlink terminal in her name at a local Administrative Services Centre.
The agency claims that the Russians subsequently planned to involve her in recruiting other front people to illegally register Starlink terminals.
How the scheme was foiled
The SBU reported that the woman did not follow the Russians’ instructions, but immediately contacted the security service’s hotline and provided all the information she had.
According to the SBU, this made it possible not only to foil the attempt at illegal verification of satellite terminals, but also to identify the Russian “masterminds” and document their actions.
The security service specifically emphasised that this attempt was exposed thanks to the “Burn the FSB Agent” information campaign.
