What is happening with prices in Ukraine
Prices for basic products in Ukraine have increased several times. The highest increases are in fruits, eggs, vegetables, and meat.

RBC-Ukraine inquired with the State Statistics Service of Ukraine about how food prices have changed.

Which products have become the most expensive over half a year / a year, and which have become cheaper

"In the first half of 2025, the prices for fruits increased the most by +57.9%. Also, meat and meat products, non-alcoholic beverages, sunflower oil, bread, fish, and fish products increased in price from +16.2% to +6.6%, respectively," - reported the State Statistics Service.

On a yearly basis, June 2025 compared to June 2024, the leaders in price growth were eggs +59.2% and fruits +51.7%.

"The average price of apples in June 2025 was 79.49 hryvnias per kg, compared to 26.90 hryvnias per kg in June last year. The prices for apples in June 2025 increased by 123.2% compared to June 2024," - noted the agency.

Prices for sunflower oil, butter, processed grain products, vegetables, meat and meat products, bread, milk, and dairy products, non-alcoholic beverages increased significantly from +33.6% to +20.3%, respectively.

"In the first half of 2025, eggs decreased in price by 16.8% and rice by 2.1%. Moderate growth was recorded for sugar +2.4%, vegetables +1.5%, and milk +1.3%," - say experts.

How have prices for basic vegetables changed

The average price of the "borscht set" across Ukraine:

  • potatoes - 34.73 hryvnias, an increase of +21.9%;
  • carrots - 49.69 hryvnias, an increase of +65.8%;
  • onions - 31.28 hryvnias, an increase of +26.9%;
  • white cabbage - 28.23 hryvnias, an increase of +149.1%;
  • beetroot - 44.80 hryvnias, an increase of +35%.

What about prices for meat, bread, and dairy

Prices for meat and meat products increased by 22.9% over the year.

Current prices for meat:

  • beef - 323.18 hryvnias;
  • pork - 238.38 hryvnias;
  • poultry (whole carcasses) - 113.94 hryvnias;
  • chicken fillet - 214.63 hryvnias;

Bread has become 21.9% more expensive over the year as of June 2025, and milk prices increased by 20.9% over the year.

Cost of dairy products:

  • pasteurized milk with fat content up to 2.6% - 47.18 hryvnias;
  • soft cheeses - 225.78 hryvnias;
  • sour cream with fat content up to 15% - 137.99 hryvnias.

"The issue of Ukrainians' purchasing habits is studied within household living conditions surveys. However, with the start of the full-scale invasion, surveys were suspended and information was not collected," - stated the State Statistics Service.

In which regions are bread and milk the most expensive

The most expensive bread (baguette, 500 g) in June 2025:

  • Kherson region - 34.39 hryvnias;
  • Volyn region - 33.90 hryvnias;
  • Rivne region - 33.15 hryvnias.

For example, the average price in Kyiv is 29.55 hryvnias.

The most expensive milk (pasteurized, fat content up to 2.6%, 1000 g) in June 2025:

  • Kharkiv region - 52.76 hryvnias;
  • Vinnytsia region - 50.14 hryvnias;
  • Kyiv - 50.07 hryvnias.
