Adam Kadyrov, the 18-year-old son of the head of the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation, has made his first public appearance following media reports of an accident in which he sustained serious injuries.

This is reported by *Novaya Gazeta*.

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has posted a video on his Telegram channel from a meeting with commanders of the republic’s security forces. The recording features, among others, his son Adam.

Earlier, amid reports of Kadyrov Jr’s hospitalisation, a video of a meeting in which Adam was allegedly present had already been published in Chechnya. However, journalists discovered that it had been edited before the road accident.

As a reminder, on 16 January 2026, it emerged that Adam Kadyrov’s motorcade had been involved in a road accident and he had been taken to a hospital in Grozny. According to media reports, he was flown to Moscow by air ambulance during the night of the 16th.

The Chechen opposition movement Niyso stated that Kadyrov Jr’s motorcade was travelling at high speed, car after car, when it suddenly hit an obstacle. As a result, the cars ‘began to crash into one another’, causing ‘quite a few’ casualties.

Novaya Gazeta reported that Adam Kadyrov had his spleen removed and was diagnosed with a fractured jaw and damage to the optic nerve, putting him at risk of losing sight in one eye. For some time, he was unable to eat solid food and lost a noticeable amount of weight during weeks on a diet.

Officially, the Chechen authorities have not commented on either the road accident or the reports that Kadyrov Jr. was injured in it. Kadyrov himself dismissed the reports of the accident as “fake news” and claimed that “with the help of artificial intelligence, you can fool anyone”.
