Smilyansky announced the launch of parcel exports to the EU under the new rules
This was reported by Ihor Smilianskyi, CEO of Ukrposhta, on Facebook:
According to Smilianskyi, the necessary agreements were signed on the night before the new rules came into force, enabling Ukrposhta to continue its export deliveries to all EU countries without interruption.
He expressed the hope that the customs services of EU member states would adapt swiftly to the new procedures and would not cause delays for Ukrainian senders.
“Ukrposhta has launched parcel exports to EU countries under the new customs rules. So we look forward to serving our customers and very much hope that the customs services of EU countries will not let us down,” Smiliansky said.
Ukraine among the first
The head of Ukrposhta reported that, of all non-EU countries, only four had managed to meet all the requirements by 1 July and sign the necessary agreements with all 27 EU member states.
This list includes Ukraine, the United Kingdom, China and Switzerland.
According to Smilianskyi, this gives Ukrainian exporters an additional competitive advantage whilst other countries are still adapting to the new customs procedures.
Ukrposhta has opened a further 20 modular branches
In addition to the launch of the new export rules, Ukrposhta has completed the installation of a further 20 modular branches in frontline communities.
The project was implemented with the support of the Japanese government as part of the international ‘Emergency Recovery and Reconstruction Project’, funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in partnership with Ukraine’s Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.
The new branches have been opened for residents of the Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Chernihiv regions to replace those damaged or destroyed by hostilities.
The latest such branch was opened in Derhachi, in the Kharkiv region, opposite a building that was destroyed as a result of Russian shelling.
