SSU Alpha special unit destroys over 500 Russian air defence systems since the beginning of war
Security Service of Ukraine Alpha unit has destroyed more than 500 units of Russian air defence systems since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. These are key elements of the multi-level air defence system, which Russia calls one of the most advanced in the world.
The targets included long- and medium-range S 400 and S 300 surface-to-air missile systems, Pantsyr S1 surface-to-air missile gun systems, Buk M2 and Buk M3 systems, Tor M2, Wasp and Arrow 10. They also destroyed radar stations, command posts and detection equipment, without which the air defence system loses coordination and effectiveness.
The SSU notes that the systematic disabling of these components allowed to break through the enemy's multi-layered air defence. This made it possible to create corridors for Ukrainian long-range drones that strike military bases, ammunition depots, airfields and other targets in the deep rear of the Russian Federation. The effect of such operations has a direct impact on the reduction of the defence capabilities of Russian troops.
