Sweden allocates almost EUR 64 million to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine
The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency SIDA has transferred EUR 63.82 million to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine. This brings Sweden's total contribution to the Fund to €203.08 million, of which €44.68 million has been allocated to a separate account for nuclear safety.
This assistance was used to purchase equipment for the development of distributed generation in one of the most energy-deficient regions of the country. Part of the funds was also allocated to NPC Ukrenergo and distribution system operators in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Chernihiv regions.
The Ministry of Energy emphasises that Sweden's support strengthens the resilience of the power system in the face of Russian attacks and allows not only to restore the destroyed infrastructure, but also to launch new generating capacities.
Sweden is currently the second largest donor to the Fund after Germany. The day before, Germany made the largest single contribution to the Fund in the amount of EUR 160.11 million. In total, as of 25 December 2025, the Fund has accumulated more than €1.521 billion in grants, of which €258 million was received in December. The funding will be used to purchase equipment, spare parts and materials to stabilise the operation of Ukraine's power system.
