Electricity tariffs from May: should Ukrainians expect new prices?
Energy regulators are preparing for the next tariff review
Ukraine is preparing for a possible review of electricity tariffs, which could come into effect as early as May 2026. Among the reasons currently being discussed within the sector are the costs of restoring energy infrastructure, the need to stabilise the market, and preparations for periods of peak demand.

This is reported in an article by Pershyi Biznes.

The issue of electricity tariffs has once again come to the fore in the run-up to May 2026. The government and the relevant regulators are preparing for another review of electricity prices, though no final decision has yet been reached.

The article notes that several possible scenarios are currently being considered within the sector. One option involves maintaining the current price for most domestic consumers, but with a possible adjustment for households with high consumption.

Another scenario is a moderate tariff increase. Such a move, it is noted, could help partially cover the costs of restoring power grids and importing electricity.

The relevant ministry emphasises that a final decision has not yet been made. According to the data provided, the authorities are attempting to strike a balance between the needs of the energy system and the financial capabilities of the population.

The overall economic situation is also being taken into account, as well as the risks associated with the upcoming heating season. It is these factors that are expected to influence the final approach to tariff policy.

The experts mentioned in the article point out that several factors will influence pricing. These include generation volumes, the condition of the grids following winter attacks, and the level of electricity imports.

If the situation in the energy system remains stable, no sharp price surge is currently forecast. At the same time, according to the data provided, the government is expected to make a final decision on this matter at the end of April, when it plans to announce the official decision on tariffs from May 2026.
