The Centre for Public Diplomacy has debunked the false claim that the US Embassy is leaving Kyiv
The Centre for Countering Disinformation has urged the public to rely on official sources of information and not to share unverified reports.
Reports that the US Embassy has allegedly left Kyiv due to threats from Russia to launch strikes on the capital are untrue. The Centre for Countering Disinformation has stated that such reports are being circulated online and in some media outlets.

This was reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation, citing Georgiy Tykhyi, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Centre for Countering Disinformation stated that reports of the US Embassy allegedly leaving Kyiv are false.

Information began to circulate online and in some media outlets that the US diplomatic mission had allegedly left the Ukrainian capital in a hurry due to threats from Russia to strike Kyiv.

The Centre emphasised that this information is untrue.

What the Foreign Ministry said

Georgiy Tykhyi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, officially refuted reports of the US Embassy’s alleged departure from Kyiv.

The Centre for Countering Disinformation urged citizens to trust official sources of information and not to spread unverified reports.

Earlier, Russia had threatened new strikes on Kyiv and urged foreigners, particularly diplomats, to leave the city.

Against this backdrop, reports began to appear in the media about the alleged evacuation of foreign diplomatic missions. The Ukrainian side denies reports of the US Embassy leaving Kyiv.
