The first round of 16 fixture has been decided at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Canada and Morocco will battle it out for a place in the World Cup quarter-finals.
Canada progressed to the next round after beating South Africa 1–0 in the round of 32.
Morocco reached the round of 16 following a dramatic match against the Netherlands. The match ended 1–1 after normal and extra time, with Morocco coming out on top in the penalty shoot-out.
The Canada v Morocco match will take place on 4 July. Kick-off is at 20:00 Kyiv time.
The winner of this tie will face the winner of the match between Paraguay and the winner of the France v Sweden match in the quarter-finals.
The first teams to have secured their places in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup have also been confirmed.
As things stand, Canada, Brazil, Paraguay and Morocco have all progressed to the next round of the tournament.
Brazil reached the round of 16 after a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Japan.
Paraguay pulled off one of the tournament’s biggest upsets by knocking out Germany. The match ended 1–1 after normal and extra time, with Paraguay coming out on top in the penalty shoot-out.
The 2026 World Cup runs from 11 June to 19 July in the USA, Mexico and Canada. This is the first World Cup in history to feature 48 national teams.
