The US Department of Defence has updated its list of foreign entities engaged in activities of concern, adding 130 academic and research institutions based in China, Russia and Iran.

This is stated on the Pentagon’s website.

Of these organisations, 33 are Russian. The list includes the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Moscow Aviation Institute, a number of institutions that form part of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and others.

The department has confirmed that these institutions are involved in activities that increase the risk of the unlawful appropriation of research and development results funded by the US government. According to the US authorities, this enables hostile states to interfere with US scientific research and poses a threat to national security.

The Ministry is urging US researchers, universities and companies to exercise caution if they plan to collaborate with, fund or exchange data with institutions on this list.
