Fatal accident at Karavaevy Dachi in Kyiv on 5 June
The driver of the Mercedes that crashed into a pedestrian crossing in Kyiv was working as a taxi driver and was on a fare at the time of the accident.

This was reported by Suspilne.

A passenger who was in the car at the time of the accident said that the driver simply wanted to show off his driving skills to her, which was the cause of the accident.

The woman is currently in hospital with injuries.

Accident at Karavaevy Dachi in Kyiv: what is known

As a reminder, on 5 June in Kyiv, in the Karavaevy Dachi area, a fatal accident occurred. A Mercedes-Benz C300 travelling at high speed veered off the road and crashed into the structure of an underground pedestrian crossing.

Four people were killed in the collision – two local police officers, a woman and a 12-year-old boy. Three more people sustained injuries of varying severity.

Oleksiy Biloshitsky, First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department, reported that the vehicle had previously been recorded committing 39 traffic offences, the majority of which involved speeding. There have been 18 such incidents since the start of the year alone.

Law enforcement officers detained the driver and charged him under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The offence carries a maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment.
