The President’s Office has refused to register a petition calling for Umerov’s dismissal — CPC
This was reported by the Anti-Corruption Action Centre. The petition was registered by the Centre’s Executive Director, Daria Kalenyuk.
In response to a request to register the petition, the Anti-Corruption Centre received a letter stating that ‘the petition to the President of Ukraine does not meet the established requirements, and therefore it will not be published’. However, they did express their gratitude for the ‘active civic stance’.
“The refusal to register the petition is a deliberate policy by the Office of the President to ignore the constitutional duties of the President, who, in accordance with Article 107 of the Constitution of Ukraine, appoints and dismisses the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council,” the Anti-Corruption Centre stated.
The Anti-Corruption Centre also stated that previously the Office of the President had, in particular, refused six times to register a petition regarding the dismissal of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, and had also, it is claimed, refused to register a petition regarding the prevention of the adoption of the new Civil Code on the first attempt.
“At the same time, the Office of the President sees no problem in registering petitions such as No. 22/143178-ep ‘Good afternoon, please open the borders’ or No. 22/139304-ep ‘Revive the traditional production of Palianytsia in Ukraine and erect a monument to it’,” the Anti-Corruption Centre adds.
As noted, the Anti-Corruption Centre has already prepared and sent a request to the Office of the President regarding the reason for refusing to register the petition on the dismissal of Rustem Umerov.
As a reminder, a petition against the Civil Code previously gathered 28,000 signatures in a single day. This means that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must now consider it.
