A military police officer was killed in Lviv during an emergency alert: the attacker is being sought
This was reported by the Lviv Regional Police.
A report of the attack was received via the 102 emergency line on 2 April at around 14:15. According to the police, whilst emergency drills were taking place on Paton Street, an unknown assailant stabbed a member of the Territorial Defence Forces in the neck with a knife and then fled. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the victim died in hospital.
Special operation and criminal proceedings
Following the attack, a police special operation was launched in Lviv. Criminal police operatives, investigators, patrol officers and staff from other services were deployed to search for the attacker.
Investigators from the local police unit, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, opened criminal proceedings under paragraph 8 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional murder. The penalty under this article provides for imprisonment of between ten and fifteen years or life imprisonment.
As a reminder, a double murder took place in the Chuhuiv district of Kharkiv region in January 2026: the bodies of two men were found in the village of Husyna Polyana. Two military personnel who had joined the Armed Forces may be implicated in their deaths.
