A factory supplying chemical components to the Russian military-industrial complex was attacked in the Tver region.
On the night of 7 February, the Redkino Research Plant in the village of Redkino, Tver Region, Russian Federation, was attacked. The attack was reported by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Centre for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defence Council, who noted that the plant has been operating in the defence industry since Soviet times and specialises in the experimental and small-scale production of special chemical components for military programmes.
According to Kovalenko, the plant is part of the Russian Federation's military-industrial complex supply chain due to its dual-use and purely military materials. These include components for fuel mixtures, explosives, initiators and technological compounds used by Russian defence enterprises and meeting the non-standard needs of the Russian Federation's Ministry of Defence for new weapons models.
OSINT analysis of footage of the attack, released by the ASTRA project, confirms that the drones hit the territory of the Redkinsky Research Plant, located on Zavodskaya Street in Redkino. Local residents reported a series of explosions and a subsequent fire. According to the analysis of video footage taken approximately 700 metres from the plant, several fires broke out after the strikes. Eyewitnesses also reported a noticeable chemical smell near the facility. There were no official comments from the Russian authorities at the time of publication.
Subsequently, a source in the Security Service of Ukraine reported that the strike on the plant was carried out by drones from the SBU's Alpha Special Operations Centre. According to this information, the plant manufactures components of the Decilin-M rocket fuel for the Kh-55 and Kh-101 cruise missiles, as well as fuel additives for diesel fuel and aviation kerosene.
After the strikes, a large fire broke out on the factory premises, with thick black smoke visible above the facility. The active burning was also recorded by the FIRMS service, which tracks fires around the world in real time. The SBU emphasised that even a temporary shutdown of this enterprise complicates the production of rocket fuel and reduces the Russian Federation's ability to maintain the intensity of rocket strikes on Ukraine.
The Redkinsky Research Plant is subject to sanctions by the United States, the United Kingdom and a number of other countries. According to open sources, the plant had previously been attacked in September 2023 and June 2024.
