Ukraine has launched a website to combat the recruitment of foreigners into the Russian army
This was announced by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
New resource to combat Russian recruitment
The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, has launched the information resource stoprussianrecruiters.org.
The website was created to expose the Russian system of recruiting foreign nationals to fight against Ukraine.
The resource will publish information on the methods and scale of recruitment, the geographical scope of Russian recruiters’ activities, and individuals working in Russia’s interests in various countries around the world.
Who is Russia recruiting for the war?
The Coordination Headquarters states that Russia is increasingly actively recruiting citizens of other states into the war.
This includes migrant workers, the unemployed, and members of socially vulnerable groups from countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
According to the headquarters, deception, psychological pressure and financial manipulation are used for this purpose.
“Russia is increasingly actively recruiting citizens of other countries into the war: migrant workers, the unemployed, and members of socially vulnerable groups from countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Deception, psychological pressure and financial manipulation are being used for this purpose,” the Coordination Headquarters said in a statement.
Over 28,000 foreigners in the Russian military
As part of the “I Want to Live” project, the identities of over 28,000 foreigners who have signed contracts with the Russian army have already been established.
At least 5,149 of them have been killed.
Hundreds of foreigners from over 48 countries are currently held captive in Ukraine.
In March 2026, the Coordination Headquarters also reported that among the foreigners who signed contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defence to serve in the Russian armed forces, at least 2,427 people are citizens of 40 African countries.
Why the website was created
The Coordination Headquarters emphasises that the new resource is intended to warn potential victims of the Russian recruitment system.
The website is also intended to draw the international community’s attention to the scale of foreign involvement in the war against Ukraine.
Another aim of the resource is to help bring to justice those who send people to fight for the Kremlin’s interests.
