Ukrzaliznytsia will not restore the old railway station in Fastiv — a new one will be built
The train station building in Fastiv, Kyiv region, damaged by Russian strikes, will not be rebuilt — it will be completely dismantled and a new one will be built in its place. This decision was made at a meeting of the disaster response headquarters chaired by the head of Ukrzaliznytsia, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi. This was reported by The Public with reference to Mayor Mykhailo Netyazhuk.
The design of the new building will undergo public discussions, in which community residents will be involved. During the construction period, a temporary modular structure will be installed on the platform to serve as ticket offices and a waiting area. A tent is available at the station to keep passengers warm.
Fastiv Station resumed operations after the shelling on December 6: in the afternoon, long-distance trains began running again through the junction station. Starting today, service to Kyiv should operate as usual.
The mayor thanked the railway workers, State Emergency Service rescuers, utility workers, volunteers, and police for their prompt response to the attack. According to him, their joint efforts made it possible to quickly restore traffic and ensure passenger safety.
