The government is launching an internship programme for Ukrainians aged 50 and over: how it will work
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko made this statement on Telegram.
Why this matters for the economy
According to Svyrydenko, the shortage of skilled workers is currently one of the biggest challenges facing the country, particularly in the construction and defence industries. The government is focusing on experienced workers, as they form the foundation of economic stability.
The study ‘The Labour Market After 50’ showed that employers value the reliability of such workers, yet 60% of companies still hold ageist stereotypes, and 65% cite a lack of digital skills among candidates.
The national programme “Experience Matters”: how it will work
The internship programme, implemented in partnership with the State Employment Centre and the business sector, consists of three stages:
Training: updating CVs and acquiring practical skills in line with the demands of the modern market.
Communication: meeting with a potential employer to discuss the format of cooperation.
Practical experience: a short-term internship directly within the company with the possibility of subsequent formal employment.
