The government has extended payments to internally displaced persons and expanded support for children: what has changed
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has amended the procedure for providing living allowances to internally displaced persons. According to Yulia Svyrydenko, the government has decided to extend the duration of payments for the most vulnerable groups of displaced persons.
These recipients will now be able to receive state support for a further six months.
Separately, the government has stepped up support for children among internally displaced persons. Payments for them will be granted regardless of family income.
According to the Prime Minister, this assistance will be provided from 1 February 2026, provided the application is submitted by 1 May 2026.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers has updated the procedure for reviewing payments for IDPs who are unable to work. This concerns people whose living allowance payments were previously suspended due to exceeding the income threshold.
Following the increase in the minimum subsistence level, these displaced persons can now reapply for a review of their benefits.
Yulia Svyrydenko clarified that if an application is submitted by 1 May 2026, benefits will be paid from 1 January 2026. If the application is received later, payments will be made from the month in which the application was submitted.
Thus, the government has simultaneously extended the support period for vulnerable categories of IDPs, expanded assistance for children, and opened the possibility of reviewing payments for disabled IDPs who had previously lost their entitlement to this assistance due to the income criterion.
