Children have been returned from the occupied territories
A further 15 children have been returned from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine as part of the Ukrainian President’s ‘Bring Kids Back UA’ initiative.

This was reported by Save Ukraine.

According to the initiative, the Russian occupying authorities are attempting to forcibly conscript Ukrainian teenagers and are making it difficult for them to return home. Among those rescued are:

  • 14-year-old Alina, who was denied treatment and rehabilitation because her family refused to accept Russian documents. The girl studied secretly at a Ukrainian school whilst explosions rang out near her home.
  • 18-year-old Ivan, who was forced to listen to propaganda, whilst a Russian officer taught students how to dismantle automatic weapons during college lessons. When young men of conscription age began to be summoned and forcibly registered for military service, Ivan left.
  • 18-year-old Demyan, who was forced to register for military conscription under threat. In his hometown, as the initiative reported, armed Chechen soldiers openly mocked the locals. Right in front of Demyan, Russian soldiers burst into a lesson and tied up his classmate.
  • 17-year-old Yevgeniya, whose home was searched at least ten times by armed soldiers. She was forcibly made to attend school under occupation, where pupils were forced to join the ‘cadets’ and ‘were told every day that war is normal’.
