Weather in Ukraine on 28 May 2026: cold and stormy winds
The weather forecast for 28 May is provided by meteorologist Natalka Didenko and data from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre.
According to Natalka Didenko, on 28 May, Ukraine will be on the leeward side of a cold atmospheric front.
Precipitation is still possible, but it will be mostly light and localised.
“So there will still be a few drizzles, but the rainfall is expected to be light and localised,” the forecaster explained.
Due to the influx of cold air, daytime temperatures in most regions will drop to +15–19 degrees. It will be warmer only in the south – up to +22 degrees.
Where rain and thunderstorms are expected
According to the forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre, 28 May in Ukraine will be cloudy with sunny spells.
Rain is forecast overnight in the south and east of the country. During the day, short-lived showers are expected in most regions, except for the southern regions, Zakarpattia and Prykarpattia.
Thunderstorms are possible in places.
The wind will be north-westerly, 7–12 m/s. During the day, gusts may reach 15–20 m/s in most regions.
Temperatures in the regions
Overnight in Ukraine, temperatures are expected to be +5–+10 degrees, and during the day – +13–+18.
It will be warmer in the south: temperatures of +11–+16 degrees are forecast at night, and +17–+22 during the day.
Natalka Didenko warned that cold, heavy air will create pressure, so stormy gusts of wind are possible in Ukraine.
Weather in Kyiv
Strong north-westerly winds are forecast for Kyiv on 28 May.
Light rain is also possible in the capital.
The daytime temperature will drop to around +15 degrees.
What will happen to the weather next
According to Didenko’s forecast, cool weather in Ukraine will persist until the end of the week.
At the same time, a new warming trend is expected in early June.
The day before, Ukraine was hit by severe weather: several regions experienced heavy rain with thunderstorms, gales and hail.
Meteorologists have also released a preliminary forecast for June. The average temperature for the first month of summer is expected to be 1.5 degrees above normal, and thunderstorms will become more frequent.
