Zelensky stated that China is not interested in ending the war because it does not want to see Russia weakened
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that China could influence the end of the war if it had the political will to do so, but that stopping Russian aggression is not in its interests at present. He made this statement during a conversation with journalists.
According to Zelensky, China is a powerful state with a strong economy and significant opportunities to influence Russia and Vladimir Putin personally. At the same time, the President stressed that he does not see Beijing's interest in ending the war. He attributed this to global competition between China and the United States, which he called a confrontation between two major poles.
Zelensky noted that Russia's defeat would weaken one of these poles and strengthen Washington's position, so China does not want to see Moscow weakened. According to him, this also affects the duration of the war, as China's unwillingness to put pressure on the Kremlin means that the fighting will continue. The president emphasised that this is not about direct military support, but about an unwillingness to support peace.
At the same time, Ukrainian special services are monitoring possible supplies from China to Russia. According to Zelensky, intelligence reports on the transfer of equipment and machine tools, but he has not received any information about arms supplies.
