The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held a meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France on 16 June. In particular, the US President stated that ‘Russia must agree to a peace deal’.

Zelenskyy posted a photo of the meeting on social media.

“It is always important to coordinate positions,” he wrote. The photo shows that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security and Defence Council Secretary Rustem Umerov were also present during the conversation.

Zelenskyy did not specify what the leaders discussed. However, Trump had previously stated that he had held a “very good” meeting with Zelenskyy at the G7 summit. And they are due to meet again shortly.

Commenting on Russia’s war against Ukraine, Trump said that Russia must sign a peace agreement, as both sides have already lost “a huge number of people”. According to Trump, this amounts to 35,000 soldiers over the past month.
