Zelenskyy congratulated Ukrainian police officers on their professional holiday
Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote about this on his Telegram channel.
Zelenskyy thanked the police officers for their service
According to the President, thousands of Ukrainian police officers are currently carrying out combat missions alongside the Defence Forces, working in frontline communities, evacuating civilians, helping to deal with the aftermath of Russian attacks, documenting war crimes and taking part in demining operations. At the same time, law enforcement officers continue to carry out their day-to-day duties — investigating criminal offences, combating organised crime, cybercrime, drug trafficking and fraudulent schemes.
“This is day-to-day work that often involves risking one’s life, but without which it is impossible to imagine the security of our state,” Zelenskyy emphasised.
The President thanked all National Police officers for their dedicated service and congratulated them on Ukrainian National Police Day.
Why is the police’s professional holiday on 4 July?
Ukrainian National Police Day is celebrated on 4 July. This date is linked to an event in 2015, when the first patrol officers took their oath and began their service on St Sophia’s Square in Kyiv. Originally, the professional holiday fell on 4 August — the day the Law ‘On the National Police’ was signed — but in 2018 the date was changed by presidential decree. Since then, Ukrainian police officers have celebrated their professional holiday on 4 July every year.
