Russia reports a massive drone attack and fires at oil depots. Ammunition depot destroyed
On the night of 6 January, Russia reported an attack by more than 100 drones. A fire broke out at an oil depot in the Lipetsk region, explosions were also reported in Penza, Yaroslavl and Sterlitamak, and an ammunition depot was destroyed in the Kostroma region.
SSU detains FSS agent in the Armed Forces of Ukraine who adjusted Russian strikes in Dnipro region
The SSU exposed a mobilised serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Dnipro who passed coordinates for missile and drone attacks in Dnipro region to the FSS. He faces life imprisonment.
Russian attack damages US company's plant in Dnipro, spills 300 tonnes of oil on roads
Russian drones attacked an oil extraction plant in Dnipro owned by the US company Bunge. About 300 tonnes of oil spilled onto city roads, and traffic on the waterfront was restricted for several days.

North Korea reported the launch of hypersonic missiles at a distance of about 1,000 km. The exercise took place on 4 January near Pyongyang and was aimed at testing the combat capability of strategic forces.

In the Lipetsk region of the Russian Federation, drones attacked the Energia defence plant in Yeltsin again. Eyewitnesses report a fire. This is at least the fourth attack on the enterprise since May 2025.
Russia's night strikes on Chernihiv cause significant damage, six dead in Kharkiv
The Russian army attacked Chernihiv at night, directly hitting a residential building and damaging at least 15 houses without causing casualties. In Kharkiv, the death toll from the 2 January attack rose to six, with 32 people injured.

On the night of 5 January, Russia attacked Kyiv and Kyiv region with attack drones. In the capital, a hit damaged a private medical facility in Obolon, killing a patient. In Kyiv region, a local resident was killed in Fastiv district, and houses and a high-rise building were damaged.

The ATESh guerrilla movement claims to have reconnoitered the Bryansk Automobile Plant, which manufactures chassis for S 400, S 350 and Iskander missile systems. The information was passed to the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
