Amazon is to pay over $2 million for ignoring requests from victims of cyber fraud
Amazon
Amazon.com Inc. has agreed to pay $2.25 million to settle a legal claim in the United States.

This is according to Bloomberg.

The platform has been accused of routinely ignoring complaints from users who had been victims of personal data theft and required official reports to protect their rights.

An investigation by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) found that the tech giant had breached the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

The company refused to provide customers with legally required information about commercial transactions carried out by fraudsters in their names.

Under the settlement agreement, which was approved by the US Department of Justice, Amazon is now obliged to provide victims of fraud with all necessary statements free of charge within 30 days of their request.

The company has confirmed that the issue has been resolved and announced that it has updated its procedures to support affected customers.
