A passenger train has been damaged in the Zaporizhzhia region following an attack by a Russian drone. The passengers, the locomotive crew and the train crew were evacuated before the strike. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties

This was reported by ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’.

What is known about the attack

According to the railway operator, the threat was detected thanks to the work of Ukrzaliznytsia’s monitoring team. After all passengers and staff had been warned, the train was promptly moved to a safe location. People are currently taking shelter. They will be transported to Zaporizhzhia by buses organised in collaboration with the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

How trains will run

Ukrzaliznytsia has reported that train services in the region will temporarily operate according to a dispatcher’s timetable. Monitoring teams are continuing to monitor the situation. Passengers on services travelling to or from Zaporizhzhia are advised to check for personalised notifications regarding their trains via the ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’ app.
