Some Ukrainian drones are manufactured using Chinese components, as domestic production of key parts has not yet been established in Ukraine.

At the same time, according to economist Oleksiy Kushch, the defence sector cannot develop in isolation without a strong industrial base.

Economist, financial analyst and investment expert Oleksiy Kushch stated on the News.LIVE programme “The World at a Turning Point” that some Ukrainian drones are manufactured using Chinese components.

According to him, Ukrainian UAV manufacturers still rely on imported components, particularly from China.

Kushch noted that domestic production of such components in Ukraine is not yet developed.

The expert also commented on the role of the defence industry in the economy. He debunked the notion that the military-industrial complex can independently generate significant revenue for the budget.

According to Kushch, the military-industrial complex is directly dependent on the overall level of economic development and related civilian sectors.

“In general, the military-industrial complex – the MIC – can become a pillar, but it can only develop within a developed industrial environment. Thus, without industrial development, the MIC will not develop, because it has a great many civilian sectors with which it is linked by contracts, subcontracts and so-called related industries...”, said the expert.

As a reminder, Moscow is completing phased deliveries to Iran, which include drones, medicines and food. According to intelligence reports, this is part of the support for Tehran against the backdrop of the war.
