McGregor’s comeback ended in defeat

How the fight unfolded
McGregor started the bout aggressively, but Holloway quickly seized the initiative. The American took his opponent to the mat several times and landed strikes on the ground.
It soon became apparent that the Irishman had injured his right leg. Due to the injury, he was unable to continue the fight properly, so the referee stopped it early and awarded Holloway the victory by technical knockout.
First comeback after a serious injury
For McGregor, this was his first fight since July 2021. On that occasion, he lost to Dustin Poirier and suffered a severe leg fracture, from which he spent a long time recovering.
The bout against Holloway was the second meeting between the two fighters. Their first fight took place back in 2013 and ended with McGregor winning by unanimous decision.
Drake lost a million dollars
It was also an unfortunate evening for Canadian rapper Drake. Before the fight, he had bet $1 million on McGregor to win, but following the Irishman’s defeat, he lost his stake.
