This has been reported by UNN, citing an official statement published on the politician’s page on the social media platform X.
The statement notes that the senator’s family has asked that their right to privacy be respected during this difficult time and has thanked everyone who has expressed their condolences and support.
Lindsey Graham was a strong supporter of Ukraine
Lindsey Graham was one of the most prominent supporters of Ukraine among American politicians. He visited Kyiv on numerous occasions, advocating for increased military aid and tougher sanctions against Russia.
As previously reported by The Public, the senator had announced the day before that the final draft of a bill on new sanctions against Russia had been agreed with US President Donald Trump’s administration. According to Graham, the document had received the White House’s backing, paving the way for it to be considered by Congress.
The initiative, drafted jointly with Senator Richard Blumenthal, provides for tough economic restrictions against Russia, as well as the introduction of 500 per cent tariffs on countries that continue to purchase Russian oil and gas. Graham has repeatedly emphasised that tougher sanctions, combined with support for Ukraine, could force the Kremlin to the negotiating table.
