Martial law and mobilisation may be extended until the end of October
This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
When might the Rada consider the draft laws?
According to Zheleznyak, the bills will provide for the extension of martial law and mobilisation for a further 90 days — from 2 August to 31 October 2026. The MP noted that the Verkhovna Rada may consider this issue as early as the next plenary week — 14–15 July.
If the decision is passed, this will mark the 20th vote by the current parliament on extending martial law and general mobilisation since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
What Zheleznyak said
Commenting on the upcoming vote, the MP spoke ironically about the latest predictions regarding the possible holding of elections in the near future.
“Applications for ‘election observers as early as September’ are now closed,” wrote Zheleznyak, hinting that the extension of martial law leaves no grounds to expect an election campaign to take place in the autumn.
