The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held talks with the President of Mozambique, Daniel Shapu. The discussions focused on gas supplies to Ukraine and countering security challenges.

The President of Ukraine wrote about this on Telegram.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is interested in additional energy supplies, whilst Mozambique seeks to draw on Ukrainian experience and technology to strengthen internal security and protect citizens from terrorist threats.

In addition, the leaders discussed opportunities for cooperation in the areas of digitalisation and food security. An agreement was reached that working groups from both countries will work together to implement joint projects.

However, there is a caveat. A Mozambican company involved in the extraction and processing of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has announced the full resumption of its LNG project, which was suspended due to force majeure in 2021. The first gas is scheduled to be delivered in 2029.

Despite his public promises, the new head of the State Customs Service, Orest Mandziy, has begun a restructuring of the Service starting with middle management rather than overhauling the senior leadership.
