President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree establishing a new special day in Ukraine. Every year on 11 June, the Day of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be celebrated.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced the signing of a decree establishing Unmanned Systems Forces Day. This new special day will be observed annually on 11 June.

In an evening address, the head of state noted that Ukraine had become the first country in the world to establish a separate branch of the armed forces dedicated to unmanned systems. According to him, the development of this branch demonstrates that, thanks to technological solutions, creativity and courage, it is possible to achieve goals that were previously unattainable for conventional weapons or required significant resources.

Zelenskyy reported that in the year since the Unmanned Systems Forces were established, Russian targets of various levels worth nearly $40 billion had been struck. He emphasised that these were various types of strikes, each of which helps to save the lives of Ukrainian servicemen.

The President also noted that the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already become an example for many other armies. He specifically thanked the units for carrying out mid-range strikes, thanks to which Russian military logistics across the entire depth of the temporarily occupied territory have become accessible to Ukrainian drones.

According to the Head of State, the impact of Ukrainian drones is also being felt in Russia’s border regions. Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will continue to build up such capabilities and strengthen the Unmanned Systems Forces.

The President thanked the UAS soldiers and all units of the Ukrainian Defence and Security Forces, who are jointly carrying out combat missions and striking designated targets.
