Pashinyan has cancelled his trip to Russia on 9 May
The Armenian Prime Minister made these remarks on 7 May during a conversation with journalists, according to News.am.
Why Pashinyan did not travel to Russia
According to Nikol Pashinyan, he informed the Russian President of his decision during his visit to Russia in April. Pashinyan cited the need to personally participate in the election campaign as the main reason for declining to attend the events on 9 May.
“I informed the President of that country of this during my visit to Russia in April,” the Armenian Prime Minister noted.
We would like to remind you that elections to the National Assembly of Armenia are scheduled for 7 June, with the main contest expected to be between Nikol Pashinyan and Robert Kocharyan. Voters will effectively have to choose between two different paths for the country’s development — Pashinyan’s policy, focused on peace and reducing dependence on Russia, and the opposition’s alternative approach.
