The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a package of measures to support agricultural producers operating in frontline and de-occupied regions. The programmes include compensation for Ukrainian agricultural machinery, the restoration of irrigation systems, and direct payments for lost crops and livestock maintenance

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko

 Under the ‘Made in Ukraine’ policy, farmers from combat zones will be eligible for 40% compensation for domestically produced agricultural machinery (provided that over 80% of their land is located in a combat zone). The state will also cover up to 80% of the costs of repairing and constructing irrigation systems and pumping stations, which is critically important for the southern regions.

Payments to affected farmers in the Kherson region Payments to 236 agricultural producers in the Kherson region will begin as early as next week. They will receive 4,700 UAH per hectare (up to a limit of 2,000 hectares) as compensation for crops lost due to the war.

Support for livestock farming: applications open on 7 April

Applications for direct support are now being accepted via the State Agrarian Register (DAR):

  • 7,000 UAH per cow (in herds of 3 to 100 head);

  • 2,000 UAH per goat or sheep (in herds of 5 to 500 animals).

Energy independence and lending To enhance the autonomy of farms, farmers can take advantage of preferential loans:

  • The ‘5-7-9%’ programme.

  • Loans at 0% interest up to 10 million UAH for the purchase of energy equipment (generators, solar panels, etc.).
