The Ministry of Internal Affair's points of invulnerability in Kyiv are fully equipped with generators and communications.
Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that all emergency shelters and warming centres under the responsibility of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry are fully equipped with generators, fuel and stable communications. He made this statement in an exclusive interview with RBC-Ukraine.
According to the minister, 54 units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, including district police departments and fire departments of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, perform the functions of resilience centres in the capital. Businesses can also participate in the organisation of such centres by providing places for warming up, charging gadgets, as well as free access to water and hot drinks.
Klymenko paid special attention to the mobile points of the State Emergency Service, which are being deployed in the courtyards of high-rise buildings. According to him, after analysing calls to the 112 hotline in the areas with the most difficult situation, pneumatic frame tents began to be installed so that help could be provided as close to people as possible. Specialised locations with beds, particularly in Troieshchyna, are primarily intended for people who need pre-medical care or have medical indications.
The minister also spoke about the consolidated work of the State Emergency Service units, including the newly formed teams of climbers, engineers, UAV operators, robotics and sapper crews, in eliminating the consequences of enemy attacks. He separately focused on the work of the National Police of Ukraine in the context of power outages in the capital.
In addition, Klymenko reported that since the beginning of January, psychologists from the Ministry of Internal Affairs units in Kyiv have provided assistance to more than 28,000 citizens. Specialists work in resilience centres and mobile tents, conducting consultations, training sessions and practical classes to reduce stress and anxiety levels. The minister thanked the psychologists for their professionalism and humanity and stressed that supporting people in difficult times is part of the state's responsibility.
