Росія насправді заробляє менше після зняття санкцій з її нафти – Бессент
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has stated that Russia actually earns less from selling its own oil without US sanctions.
He made this remark in an interview with NBC.
According to him, an analysis by the US Treasury shows that Russia could earn a maximum of an additional $2 billion from oil sales without sanctions, which is allegedly equivalent to one day’s expenditure from the Russian budget.
“Will Russia make more money if oil costs $150 a barrel and they get 70% of that, or if oil costs less than $100? So they’re making less money,” Bessent said.
He added that Russia would still receive money for oil even if the sanctions were still in place, as approximately 90% of its oil is purchased by China.
Bessent noted that the US is unable to prevent China from buying oil from Russia. Russian exports fell by 25% whilst the sanctions were in place, but now the US has allowed everyone to buy Russian oil.
